I just loved this. We must care for the things we cherish. :)
I thought some of you would appreciate this considering many submissions I get deal with this in some way!
I really like it! It’s not mind blowing or deep, I mean, it’s technically a “children’s” book. I actually only started reading it because my brother had read the series and wanted me to as well, so the first book was hard for me to get into in the first half. Once I did, though, I really enjoyed it and I’ve read the first three. I’d read the others, but my brother and dad decided I needed to read Lone Survivor before I read anything else.
I’ve heard that some people label it as a “Harry Potter Knockoff” and maybe there are one or two small similarities, but being a Harry Potter fan myself that’s not what came to mind when I started reading. It can also be a bit confusing at times with so many different names, people, animals, etc., being introduced. And I can’t lie, there are a few things that happen that just seem a little too crazy and throw me off slightly - like an evil, talking toothpick!
Overall, I think it’s a series you either love or you hate - there’s really no in between with it. Would I recommend it? Of course, but only to those who already like the genre. It’s definitely not the series I’d use to introduce someone to a genre they’ve never read before.
